Dog Parkour

Confidence, Coordination & Connection Through Movement

Dog Parkour is a structured, reward-based activity that teaches dogs to safely interact with obstacles and the environment around them through climbing, balancing, moving over, under and through objects, problem solving and controlled movement exercises.

Unlike agility, Dog Parkour is not speed-based or competitive making it ideal for all dogs. The focus is on confidence, body awareness, teamwork and thoughtful interaction with the environment. Dogs are encouraged to work independently, make choices and build skills at their own pace using force-free training methods.

Dog Parkour is suitable for dogs of all breeds, sizes and experience levels and can be particularly beneficial for:

  • Nervous or sensitive dogs

  • Adolescent dogs

  • Dogs needing confidence building

  • Dogs requiring additional mental enrichment

  • Dogs needing improved coordination and body awareness

  • Owners wanting to strengthen engagement and teamwork with their dog

Our Foundation Level 1 course is a 4-week beginner programme introducing dogs and handlers to the core concepts and skills involved in Dog Parkour.

Throughout the course, dogs will begin learning skills including:

  • Two feet on obstacles

  • Four feet on obstacles

  • Moving under obstacles

  • Moving through spaces independently

  • Entering objects confidently

  • Simple sequences and obstacle combinations

  • Confidence and creativity around new objects and environments

Sessions also include warm up and cool down exercises, body awareness work and confidence-building activities designed to help dogs move safely and thoughtfully.

As dogs progress, they learn to perform skills more independently, confidently and fluently while developing stronger focus and teamwork with their handler. The final week includes freestyle parkour activities and Level 1 achievement awards through Dog Parkour UK.

Classes are taught at the People and Dogs training fields in Dronfield by Susy Lastra-Jackson, a certified Dog Parkour UK Instructor and Evaluator with many years of practical experience teaching dogs and handlers through both People and Dogs and her own business, Dogs Club Sheffield.
