Meet the Trainers
Victoria Cooper is the Founder and Principal Instructor at People and Dogs. She has loved, worked and trained dogs and other animals since the age of 10, both in the UK and abroad and has a wealth of knowledge, expertise and experience to support and teach you with your dog. After extensive studies gained in canine behaviour and training, her goals are to teach you modern, kind and practical training methods in order to have a well behaved dog that you can be proud of.
Victoria also worked with the Sheffield (RSPCA) Animal Shelter as Freelance Behaviour Consultant during 2011 and has also been a freelance advisor for Sheffield Dog Rescue. She has been Expert Witness on several court cases relating to dangerous dogs and has many accredited qualifications in dog behaviour and training gained through recognised bodies of education.
Victoria is a full member of The Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT) and the Pet Professional Guild (PPG) and is a Registered Practitioner with the Animal Behaviour and Training Council (ABTC). These are reputable international organisations that represents professional, qualified dog trainers and has high standards of force free and effective training. She continues to attend seminars, workshops and courses to extend her knowledge and qualifications in this rapidly growing area of professional development.

Shirley is our Puppy Development trainer. She has attended several courses on puppy behaviour and development and is an assistant in Puppy Life Skills and does the Puppy Parenting home visits. These visits are invaluable to new puppy owners who might be struggling with their new puppy's behaviour. Shirley has trained several dogs with us and is owned by family dogs - Winston, (Beagle cross) Valentino (Rottie) and Dillon. ( Irish Red and White Setter)
Mary Palmer is one of our Assistant Trainers. She is a dog breeder and a Kennel Club Judge in ring craft. She has trained dogs for over 30 years, works her own multiple dogs as gundogs and shows then regularly.
Janet Brocklehurst has got experience in managing aggression in dogs and is an very experienced Trainer. she is an invaluable member of our team and often gives 1-1 help during our group lessons. She also attends seminars, lectures and courses to expand on her knowledge and experience and is a valuable asset to our team. Janet competes with her Golden Retriever Alice at Novice level Kennel Club Obedience and Working Trails. she also owns old lady Florence a 15 year old Bearded collie.
Jo Wheeldon runs ‘Go Out Paws’ a dog walking and home boarding business on East side of Sheffield. She is a qualified dog groomer and is studying to be a dog trainer. Jo lives in a multi dog household and takes an interest in learning about dog-dog aggression and managing multi dog households. Jo is an assistant trainer in some of our classes and owns 3 dogs of her own.
Sarah Symonds is one of our qualified assistants. She has assisted with other reputable APDT dog trainers in various cities over many years. Preliminary Practical Course with the APDT in 2003, Also the Think Dog Course and Teaching Successful Puppy Classes in 2014. She has had dogs all her life and now owns Carter a Labradoodle. Sarah is studying to be a Co Instructor and is doing an accredited course on Puppy behaviour and training. Sarah is also doing the KCAI accreditation course.
